| November 1999 Dear Doctor Chait: Last year in July I stopped having bowel movements. I was very uncomfortable and always complained about having a sore stomach. My mom and I tried everything from fibre to enemas. It ended up that the only thing that would help me go was to take phospha soda. I would take it every night with cranberry juice. Every Sunday morning I would wake up early in the morning and start going to the washroom, but it would take all day. Since August I could not have friends over and I was very unhappy. When I had the C-tube put in I was awake for the whole procedure, and it only took about 15-20 minutes. I couldnt believe it was done so fast. I was a little uncomfortable in my wheelchair for a couple of days. The day after I got out of hospital I went to the club that I belong to, which is Durham Hot Wheels. I was also in my uncle's wedding 1 week after I had the procedure done and I felt great because I was dancing all night long. My mom helps me with the C-tube, we do it every other night and it only takes about 1 hour. I normally get my homework done while I am being emptied. Kind of kill 2 birds with the 1 stone. I hope to do the whole thing myself one day. Now on the weekends I dont have to stay home. I can visit friends or have friends over. Thanks Dr. Chait for inventing this procedure. Your friend |
