You will give the irrigations through the separate Trapdoor ™
connecting tube that is provided with the Trapdoor C-tube.
(Figure 17)

Giving Irrigations

1. Gather your equipment:

Equipment needed for giving irrigations through the Trapdoor ™ :

  • Measuring cup and teaspoon
  • Salt
  • Gravity bag sets (2)
  • Timer/clock
  • Phosphate enema solution
  • Warm tap water

2. Wash hand with soap and water and dry thoroughly.

3. Add the prescribed amount of phosphate solution to the first
gravity bag (remember to close the clamp before filling).

4. Mix salt and warm tap water in a solution of 1 tsp. of salt in
500 ml (2 cups) water.

5. Add the solution of salt water to the second gravity bag and

7. Connect the Trapdoor ™ connecting tube to the fitting on the
gravity bag (the gravity bag fitting has the shape of a
Christmas tree). (Figure 20)

8. Open the clamp and allow the phosphate enema solution to
run in. If cramping occurs, decrease rate of the flow by
adjusting the clamp.

9. Once the entire phosphate solution bag is empty, close the
clamp and change to the second bag containing salt water
solution. Wait 15 minutes before using the salt water bag.

10. After 15 minutes, open the clamp and allow the salt water
solution to run through quickly. This usually takes about
5 minutes.

11. Once the bag containing the salt water is empty, close the
clamp of the drainage bag and disconnect the irrigation system.
Close the lid of the Trapdoor ™ device.

12. Now, wait for the irrigation results to occur (30-40 minutes).
Massaging the abdomen firmly from right to left may help
empty the bowel faster. (Figure 21)

13. Rinse gravity bags well with warm water and wash with soap
and water. Allow to air dry before storing.

Also, immediately after using the connecting tube, rinse it with
warm tap water, then wash the tube with soap and hot tap water.
(Figure 22)

! Important: Do not discard the connecting tube after use.
You will use this tube over and over again. Also, do not
use any solvents, such as alcohol or acetone, to clean
the tube.

! Important: The access tube should be cleaned after each
use. Allow the tube to dry completely. Store the tube at
normal temperatures in a clean, dry place.
