CookMidBord4.jpg (1722 bytes) Flushing Your Temporary C-tube

Flushing the C-tube with water helps keep it clear.

Normally, you will flush the C-tube twice each day with 10 cc of
warm tap water. This is done only during the first week after the
tube has been inserted and is no longer necessary once you begin
the irrigation routine.

  1. Gather your supplies: (a 10 ml syringe).

  2. Wash your hands with soap before beginning.

  3. Fill your syringe with 10 ml of warm tap water as your nurse
    showed you.

  4. Remove the cap from the end of the C-tube.

  6. Slowly inject the water into the C-tube. The water should go in
    without any resistance.
  • ! Important: If you are having trouble injecting liquid into
the C-tube, contact your nurse or doctor.
  1. Re-apply the C-tube cap.
