CookMidBord4.jpg (1722 bytes) Possible Complications of the Temporary C-tube Insertion

The temporary C-tube insertion is usually free of complications, but
the following complications are possible and should be discussed
with your doctor before deciding to have a cecostomy insertion:

  • discomfort around the tube site
  • minor skin irritations
  • infection around the tube or within the abdomen
  • fever and nausea
  • hypergranulation tissue (a build-up of harmless red, raised
tissue where the tube enters the body)
  • dislodgment of the C-tube

If you have any of these complications, refer to the
Troubleshooting Chart of this guide.
