| Patients may not be candidates for C-tube insertion if they have had previous surgical procedures, which may preclude safe access to the cecum. Distended loops of bowel that obscure safe access to the cecum, coagulopathies or known medical problems that unduly increase risk during the procedure or sedation. Although many of our patients are older, feedback from patients and parents indicates that the optimal time for primary placement is before they first attend school (age 4-6 years). |
